Friday nights at 7:30 - Journey to Chota

The 1700s come to life in the Ancient Village!

Friday Act One: The Timberlake Visit

Will you be a Cherokee villager, warrior, or Englishman as Lt. Henry Timberlake arrives for his historic 1762 visit to the busy trade center of Chota?

Hear the words of Cherokee leader and orator Ostenaco as he graciously welcomes the Timberlake party and considers bringing a contingent of Cherokees to England. How will the Cherokee warriors welcome—and warn—the visitors?

Friday Act Two:

Around Cherokee Council Fires

Travel ahead several years and become part of the 1776 Cherokee Council of the day and help Cherokee leaders decide what part, if any, they should play in the upcoming American Revolution.

Should they side with the British and fight, join the colonists, remain neutral—or is there another choice?

Hear words actually spoken by leaders of the day: Cherokee Peace Chief Attakullakulla and his warrior son Dragging Canoe; Beloved Woman Nancy Ward, Captain Nathaniel Gist, and others.

Which is the right decision? YOU will help them decide.

Saturday nights at 7:30 - Adventures in Indian Territory!

The 1800s come to life in Adam's Corner!

Saturday Act One: Amazing Graces

Award-winning actor and storyteller Laurette Willis portrays Trail of Tears survivor Carrie Bushyhead and eccentric young missionary teacher Sarah Worcester.

Saturday Act Two: Indian Territory Days

Ever wonder what it was like living in Indian Territory in the late 1800s—on either side of the law?

Meet Cherokee lawmen and outlaws including Zeke Proctor, Ned Christie, Belle Starr, Light Horse Captain John C. West -- even a teenage Will Rogers!

Is that the Doolin Gang in the audience?

Cattle Annie and Little Britches?!!!

What's Big Jim French doin' here? Good thing Cherokee Bill ain't around...or is he?

Decide whose side you are on—before the posse shows up!

Both nights will provide opportunities for audience participation.

During this interactive experience, the audience steps back in time with us, becomes part of the show and watches as history unfolds before their eyes.

Acclaimed by audience members and critics alike, Under the Cherokee Moon by playwright and director Laurette Willis has been given high marks for historical accuracy by Cherokee historians.
